Get started with Xeriscape and low water landscaping.

This is a basic class on xeriscape.  Some people think that it is just rocks and yucca, but it’s so much more.  Attending is your first step to improve your yard.

Xeriscape not a specific look or specific group of plants as many assume. It is a combination of seven common-sense gardening principles.  Best of all, the principles save water, time and resources.  As a result, you will create a gorgeous landscape in the process.

This class is led by Amy Lendt, CSU Cooperative Extention Master Gardener Coordinator. Amy will walk through each of the seven steps of xeriscape elaborating on each. The steps include the following:

  • Planning and Design
  • Soil Amendment
  • Reduced Turf
  • Efficient Irrigation
  • Appropriate Plant Selection
  • Use of Mulches
  • Appropriate Maintenance

The class is free. Space is limited and RSVPs are required. This ensures that we have enough seats and materials.

Greeley’s Water Conservation Program offers a Landscape Lecture series to the community. This is one of these events. Visit GreeleyGov.com/LandscapeLectures for more information on all upcoming sessions. Follow the “water” tag on Greeley Calendar to find out more about all of our water and conservation events.
